Indiana First Steps Program
The First Steps program is an early intervention program of the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services. First Steps provides services to infants and toddlers from newborn to age three who suffer from developmental delays or disabilities. By diagnosing developmental delays early, you can get help and greatly improve your child’s overall development and quality of life!
How it Works
The Indiana First Steps program works by connecting families with local professionals who can help meet the developmental needs of their children. From education to health, this program has changed lives by helping kids in multiple areas, including:
- Assistive Technology Services
- Audiology
- Diagnostic Medical Services*
- Family Education
- Health Services
- Nursing Services
- Nutrition Services
- Occupational Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Psychological Services
- Service Coordination
- Social Work Services
- Special Instruction/Developmental Therapy
- Speech-Language Pathology
- Transportation
- Vision Services
With First Steps, professionals can assess and evaluate your child to identify any possible delays in their development. Then, an ongoing service coordinator may help you contact the various agencies that can help your child navigate and overcome any delays.
